As of May 2013, Facebook has an estimated 1.1 billion users and due to this large number security is paramount and to ensure this there is a number of options for users to set in order to stop unwanted access. These options include a code generator, where every time a person logs onto Facebook it sends a code to the users phone that they must place into the login page as well as their user name and password. Other options include one time passwords and login notifications that let the Facebook user know when their account has been accessed.
Facebook allows user to easily personalise their account with the use of images and information. When in the Facebook edit profile page, the user can have a profile picture as well as a cover photo. Work and education, where the user lives, basic information including spoken languages, religious and political views, as well as contact information can all be set. This can work well for businesses as well as the general public. This information can be hidden from certain users if privacy is a concern.
